Our Horses

At Hanson’s Carriage company we use two different breeds of draft horses. Our main carriage horses are Clydesdale’s but we also have Percheron’s that are sometimes  used for sleigh rides.

Unless otherwise requested, our horses are “formally dressed” with patent leather show harness with traditional roll braided manes and tails.  If your event is more western themed you might ask that the horses be used in their “work clothes” which would leave the manes and tails down and the harness more for pleasure.

Our Clydesdales average 17.2 hds to 18 hds (4″ to a hand) and weigh on an average about 2000 lbs each. Our horses are driven on roads and worked around equipment to insure safety when used in events. All of our horses are trained  and worked with safety in mind, therefore we reserve the right to inspect the site of the event beforehand and refuse an area that might cause injury or an unsafe enviroment for our “kids” or your friends and family.

Hope you enjoy the pictures of our kids at work and play!
